指太平洋上因海流而聚在一起的大片垃圾，又名「太平洋垃圾帶」（Great Pacific garbage patch）或「塑膠第七大陸」

垃圾數量驚人，嚴重危害海洋生態，垃圾經陽光照射和海浪沖刷下分裂成小碎片，透過海洋生物進入食物鏈，讓人類吃下，造成長遠的健康影響
「垃圾群島共和國」為此成立
為了令世界關注起這片垃圾帶的嚴重性，英國網站 LADbible發起了一項行動，向聯合國申請要求承認這個巨大的垃圾島，成為世界上第 196 個主權國家。
他們更為此設計了國旗、護照、貨幣，甚至郵票
目前已有超過22萬人申請成為國民，而第一位國民就是美國前副總統高爾（Al Gore）。其他公民還包含最近電影火紅的「雷神」克里斯漢斯沃（Chris Hemsworth）、「浩克」馬克盧法洛（Mark Ruffalo）等影視、政商名流。
建立垃圾國行動引起不小的凡響，甚至還驚動了聯合國，不過聯合國官方發言人對此回應，雖然垃圾島國很有創意，但這個申請批准的可能性為零，不可能得到認可的。但此舉的真正目的是為了警醒世人的關注。
Ocean Cleanup 的出現
這片海域從1970年代就有科學家開始研究
2015年，一名荷蘭青少年Boyan Slat成立的環保公司Ocean Cleanup，用了30艘船，拖網收集了120萬塊塑膠碎片，目標是在2040年時將全球海洋塑膠垃圾減少90%。
所有人都有責任保護地球和海洋環境，並應源頭減廢，從生活習慣做起，減少垃圾產生，污染地球環境。

Emergence of Ocean Cleanup
